Introduce a new symbol for "Chopper".
This proposal from TaskII has caused some difficulties, since I have not been able to find any hints in the left documents about what was really intended. I have also contacted some former members of the WG1, without positive result so far.
The following definition of chopper is from IEV 811-19-11:
chopper
A d.c. electronic power convertor without an intermediate a.c. link giving a variable output voltage by varying the periods of conduction and non-conduction in adjustable ratio.
Possible solutions:
1. A chopper is a DC/DC convertor: a symbol for this exists already as S00893, so from that perspective a new symbol is not required. "Chopper" could be added as "Usage" on this symbol.
2. If it is explicitely required to show that a chopping technique is being used, e.g. in order to emphasize that there is no galvanic separation, then a new symbol is needed.
A symbol for this could be created as a block symbol with the symbol S01222 for pulse duration modulation, slightly modified. Such a symbol is proposed as S01412.

AT(WGAS): I aree to proposal "1".This symbol should be added as usage.
DE(RESC): I suggest to use the normal data procedure and I prefer proposal "1".
CN(GUTI):I agree to proposal "1".
DK(KATH): For general use the proposal 1 is OK for the normal validation procedure. Perhaps it will be useful with something in line with proposal 2, but I think we also need to have in mind S01263 "Electronic chopping device".
Conclusion by the Secretary: No one is in favour of symbol S01412, so this symbol is proposed to be given the status "Rejected".
"Chopper" (fr: "Hacheur") is proposed to be added to "Usage"not only to symbol S00893, but also to S01263, taking account of the advice from KATH. |
