CHANGE REQUEST

Request identity number:

C00097

Applies to:

S00273, S00274, S00275, S00276, S00277, S01454

Type of request:

Technical modification

Request status level:

Resolved

Proposal:

Introduce a general block symbol for a complex switch.

The proposed symbol S01454 combines the already standardised symbols for a switch S00227 with the qualifying symbol for a complex-function element IEC 60617-12-54-01 (Greek upper-case letter "phi", symbol S01731.)

The other symbols listed above have been suggested to be withdrawn by 3/596A/CDV. If the proposed symbol S01454 is approved then those symbols should be provided with a "Replaced by" link to this one.

Reason:

This proposal follows from the comments provided in document 3/635/RVC, Report on the voting on document 3/596A/CDV.

TC3 decided at its meeting in Prague 2002 that the proposed symbol should be circulated for evaluation and validation before circulation of the FDIS based on 3/596A/CDV, proposing the withdrawal of a number more specific construction-based symbols for complex switches.

FI(TAVI): For readability I propose slightly bigger font for Greek upper-case letter "phi". In addition I propose new qualifying symbol Greek upper-case letter "phi" for "complex-function". This could be used in other symbols like e.g for complex measuring relays.
