Introduce new symbols for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and investigate further needs in this area.

Reason: |
This proposal is based on the processing of C00026, dealing with the introduction of a set of new symbols for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
C00026 was, after the initial evaluation, handled in accordance with the Extended Procedure, including the circulation of the documents 3/587/CDV (result in 3/611/RVC), and 3/612/FDIS (result in 3/642/RVD).
In the comments on 3/587/CDV it was asked for the modification of some symbols, and JP proposed that a global survey should be carried out in order to define further needs.
For ease of reference, document 3/587/CDV and the comments on it, document 3/611/RVC, are attached below, and all existing GIS related symbols, released or in validation, are linked above. The propsed symbols have not yet been introduced in the database, since their inclusion might depend on the result of the possible investigation.

The validation Team members are asked to answer three questions:
1. Judgement of the need for a further investigation of the needs in this area.
2. If a further investigation is needed, then this work will be continued in a Project Team, set up for this pupose. Indicate if your NC can support this work by providing and expert (If possible: name and an indication of the willingness to be Project leader.)
3. Evaluate if the symbols already proposed in document 3/611/RVC should be accepted for work and processed, or if this should wait for the result of 1 and be included in the work of 2.
This request is also distributed to TC 17 and SC17C, dealing with GIS.

Basically we would agree to add the proposed Symbols into 60617 Database.
DE(RESC): We should immediately add the already released symbols to the database and validate the proposals of JP and DE for further GIS_symbols as described in 3/611/rvc. There is an urgent need for standardized symbols!
JP(HIKE):
Response from Japan is the following.
1) Japan feels the need for a further investigation;
2) Japan supports proposed setup of a Project Team and nominates following expert:

3) Because of the responses to 1) and 2) there will be no further investigation. Because of this, and of explict statements, the process will continue with validation of the symbols proposed in 3/611/CC. |
